I love maths, and I love teaching.  My lessons are regularly described as "outstanding, creative and enthusiastic, inspiring engagement and progress".  I believe that every student needs to find their own way of understanding concepts in maths, and needs to work to suit their own learning style. I enjoy helping others think through and find their own way of understanding concepts and ideas. 

 

Confidence and organisation are often obstacles to progress in maths; I aim to reduce these obstacles by building on students' strengths and helping them to find ways which suit them as individuals.

On our first session I will get an idea of the student's skills, learning style, confidence and organisation. We will look at what strategies have worked for them, and what their aim / target is from our sessions.

I will then plan a full programme, based on the individual student's needs and any exam requirements.  I aim to make our sessions engaging and productive.

I usually recommend weekly lessons, although some students add in extra sessions leading up to their exams.

 

Based on feedback my sessions are 50 minutes long, but very intense. As part of the weekly session I also include the opportunity to contact me direct for up to ten minutes at some other point in the week.  Students really appreciate this as it allows them to sort out homework issues which may come up between sessions.
