Why online tutoring?
When I first started tutoring I would have students to my house, or go to them, with the travelling time and inconvenience this entailed. When I first came across online tutoring I was very suspicious; I thought I would lose everything I love about tutoring. Now most of my tutoring is done online, and I actually prefer it. Why?
It reduces pressure on the student
They're in the environment of their own home, and don't have a teacher standing over them, or their parent waiting to take them home.
It plays to the student's strengths
They are used to using laptops, software, videos, it's within their control and they are comfortable in the use of all these.
It improves the student's resilience
Encouraging them to have a go and run the risk of making mistakes whilst they feel in control. Resilience is really important to students' progress in maths.
It provides access to specialists
I've got extensive experience in teaching maths, and have all myresources immediately available. My expertise is A-Level and GCSE Maths and Further Maths, as an examiner as well as a tutor.
It's much more convenient
There is no travelling time, no need to organise transport, or clear a room to provide tutoring space at your home. We can even continue when you're away from home.
It provides a deeper level of support
With everything backed up online everything we go through is all there. I also provide additional "top-up" support for brief questions during the week. Students usually use this for quick homework help.
